This new GIS Virtual Machine Base release is a completely new approach for a GIS Desktop Workstation that is Free(dom) and Ready to use anywhere.
Based on the amazing Virtualization technology it can be used on almost any operating system environment and is intended to be a hassle-free installation option for anyone that needs a ready to use GIS solution.
This GISVM Base edition is based on Ubuntu JeOS - Just Enough Operating System, specially developed for Virtual Machines, with a minimum GNOME Desktop installation, that turns this edition the lighter and faster ever released!
The base edition comes only with essential server software: Apache Web Server, TomCAT6, PostgreSQL, PostGIS, Mapserver and GeoServer.
For adding the software you need, you just have to double-click on the included install script for that software so it can become part of your GISVM.
Run this Virtual Machine on your computer and instantly get a personal GIS Workstation that gives you access to all kinds of GIS applications ready to respond to your GIS task needs. And you can even use this Workstation interactively with your host Computer environment and local network.
